Team Horizon is seeking a EHS Engineer (24-month Contract) for our client who are a global biopharmaceutical leader, for their bulk tablet facility in Cork.

What you will be doing:
- Lead and support existing site EHS programs e.g. chemical management, environmental systems, lab safety.
- Ownership and maintenance of site environmental SOPs.
- Participate in ISO 14001 / 45001 Internal & External audit. Participate in Corporate EHS audits and closing out non-conformances.
- Lead site IE License compliance activities.
- Act as site representative for regulatory bodies i.e. E.P.A and manage all EDEN related tasks.
- Monitor performance of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations through inspection and conducting sampling of waste effluent for analysis.
- Coordinate the site waste management system (solid, hazardous, biological and recycling waste streams) and manage all related documentation to ensure compliance with IE License requirements.
- Initiate and conduct cross functional incident investigations.
- Coordinate and conduct risk assessments.
- Monitor and review EHS corrective actions to ensure timely and effective closure.
- Assess the EHS impact of proposed changes to plant, process, equipment. Identify actions to ensure compliance and risk control.
- Analysis of EHS site data to determine and identify trends. Prepare EHS reports and metrics. Gather data required for AER submission.
- Support, develop, maintain, and review environmental programs to ensure that they meet legislative, corporate and industry requirements.
- Lead and promote a continuous improvement and zero accidents culture on site.
- This role offers autonomy and ownership for assigned projects/areas/programs, whilst having the support of an experienced EHS Team.
- Any other duties as assigned.
What you need to apply:
- 3rd level degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science or similar (if primary degree is in Engineering/Science, a Master Degree in Environmental Health & Safety is required).
- Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor qualification desirable.
- 5-10 years’ experience working in an EPA regulated environment essential.
- Knowledge and experience working in a GMP regulated environment preferred.
- Solid understanding of EHS legislation & ISO 14001 requirements.
- Ability to review and update technical documentation and provide GAP analysis.
- Proven track record in leading projects and/or people
- Self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and decision-making skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining close attention to detail.
