- Team Horizon is seeking a EHS Engineer for our client’s site based in Sligo (Initial 12-Month Contract). In this role you will be responsible for providing the resources necessary to ensure the effective management of EHS&E at the facility. You will also ensure that the programs and management procedures are in place to ensure that operations at the facility are conducted in such a fashion as to prevent injury or harm to the employees or to the environment.

What you will be doing:
Management of the facility’s Industrial Emissions License requirements and sites environmental management system and controls.
Identifying and implementing continuous improvements in the environmental management system to prevent significant environmental risks and drive an environmental continuous improvement program.
Lead the sites environmental program and associated projects to reduce the sites environmental footprint in water reduction, waste reduction & CO2 emissions.
Preparation and submission of regulatory reports for the EPA, Irish Water, Sligo County Council, AbbVie Global EHS etc.
Auditing to ensure compliance with the sites Industrial Emissions License, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 45001, and with the corporate management and technical standards.
Risk Assessments of the facility’s environmental and safety operations.
Development of environmental policies and procedures.
Development of the sites EHS training programme.
Assessing EHS effects of new processes and products at the facility through management of change.
Anticipate environmental impact associated with new product introductions and work closely with Global EHS and/ or external parties to mitigate environmental impact and risk.
Become a subject matter expert for all of the environmental equipment and systems onsite.
Be knowledgeable on some alternative technologies available that will support future site direction.
Provide advice, direction and leadership to site management team, project teams, sustainability teams and employees in the area of environmental management and sites environmental management programmes.
Anticipate potential environmental risks through trending and provide adequate direction to the site on measures to mitigate such risks.

What you need to apply:
Degree in Environmental Science and Technology or Chemical Engineering required.
Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role is essential.
Detailed knowledge of environmental and EPA requirements.
Good organizational and interpersonal skills will be required.
Good communication skills are necessary.
No direct reports but must communicate effectively with all levels within the organization. Must encourage an open exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing.
Proactively seek ideas for improvement and communicates and shares these ideas for improvement with staff and management.
May provide cross training and guidance to new department members.
May supervise and lead projects and develop training.
