- Construction Claims Specialist
Team Horizon is seeking a Construction Claims Specialist for a leading engineering company with a highway project in Cork. The Construction Claims professional with experience of evaluation of all aspects of construction claims including claims for extensions of time, prolongation cost, disruption cost etc. The Construction Claims Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and resolving construction-related disputes and claims. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction contracts, project documentation, and relevant laws and regulations. They will be responsible for analysing, evaluating, and negotiating claims to ensure fair and timely resolution.

What you will be doing:
Conduct thorough investigations to gather supporting evidence and documentation for claims.
Review and analyse construction contracts, project documentation, and related records to identify potential claims and disputes.
Assess the validity and merit of construction claims, considering contractual obligations, project specifications, and applicable laws and regulations.
Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and legal experts to develop claim strategies and support negotiation efforts.
Prepare comprehensive claim submissions, including detailed narratives, supporting documents, cost breakdowns, and timelines.
Present claim findings, analysis, and recommendations to management, stakeholders, and legal representatives.
Engage in negotiations and settlement discussions with project parties to reach mutually acceptable resolutions.
Assist in the preparation of expert reports, expert witness testimonies, and other documentation required for dispute resolution processes, such as mediation, arbitration, or litigation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of claims, correspondence, and related documentation.
Stay updated with relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices pertaining to construction claims management.
What you need to apply:
Holds a recognised Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying. Also, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Construction Law.
Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying, along with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Construction Law.
Has a minimum of 15 years’ experience in designing and constructing road projects.
Previously worked as a Construction Claims Specialist on a national road project with a construction value of at least €40 million (excluding VAT).
Familiarity with the NEC4 Option C and Public Works Contract forms is desirable.
