Technical Operations Manager – Team Horizon
We are currently sourcing an experienced Technical Operations Manager to join our client’s high performing diverse, operations leadership team, reporting to our Site Director in Sligo.
This role is key in developing our Site Director talent pool pipeline within our manufacturing network and requires an experienced leader who will partner closely with the site leadership team in Sligo.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership to all manufacturing operations and NPI activities throughout the site for both API and DP. With your team, you will co-ordinate project engineering and NPI analytical team activities on site and execute them successfully.

What you will bedoing:

  • Lead, develop and coach your diverse team of chemists, pharmacists, chemical engineers, validation and process engineers
  • Provide technical and automation support and program management to all manufacturing operations and NPI activities throughout the site for both API & DP.
  • Lead and co-ordinate manufacturing technical support activities, during the qualification and validation batches associated with new product introductions to the site
  • Identify and support the technical development of continuous improvement projects; partnering closely with other departments to deliver these continuous improvement projects.
  • Prepare capital and expense budgets associated with future product introduction activities at the site, including analytical equipment needs.
  • Be responsible for scope identification and execution for NPIs.
  • Plan and lead technical transfers for future product introductions to the site
  • Work closely with the global R&D and Science & Technology teams, on the process development of suitable future

  • Cost control and broad project management of all site-based projects via senior engineers
  • Manage site validation/qualification activities

What you need to apply:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. A MSc or PhD is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring a high performing team
  • 7 + years background in process chemistry, with relevant experience of process development, batch processing, technical transfers, commissioning and validation in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of cGMP and regulatory requirements relating to the pharmaceutical industry is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience of start-ups and/or new product introductions to pharmaceutical facilities. Must be able to lead these activities in a start-up environment.
  • 7 years of demonstrated process development skills, including the ability to deliver innovative manufacturing processes at industrial scale. Proven scale up skills, to facilitate the successful transition from laboratory to full scale production.
