- Description
Team Horizon is seeking a Industrial Engineer - Capacity Planning & Continuous Improvement for a leading pharmaceutical company in Dublin.
A key member of the Continuous Improvement and Industrial Engineering teams.
The role supports assigned business areas by owning and improving capacity models, operating assumptions, and capacity decision support across weekly capacity review, monthly rough-cut capacity planning, and annual long-range capacity planning.
The role holder will work across labour and equipment capacity, assessing current operational performance against planning assumptions, identifying constraints and bottlenecks, and supporting ad hoc scenario analysis for assigned areas.
The role is primarily focused on capacity model ownership, assumption governance, bottleneck identification, and modelling, while also supporting improvement identification and CI activity where capacity-planning expertise is needed. Why you should apply:
- This is an excellent opportunity to join a world class manufacturing operation, with an outstanding track record of reliably delivering high-quality medicines to patients around the world suffering serious illnesses.
- There is a strong culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the company to strive for solutions that improve health outcomes and dramatically improve people’s lives.
- Our client is developing the capability to produce all its medicines in Dublin, helping to ensure continuity of supply of our medicines as they expand internationally.
What you will be doing:
- Own assigned capacity models and associated operating assumptions for labour and equipment capacity.
- Update, maintain, and improve assigned models for weekly capacity review, monthly RCCP, annual LRS, periodic assumption reviews, and ad hoc scenario analysis.
- Assess current operational performance against capacity assumptions and identify constraints, bottlenecks, utilisation issues, and planning assumptions that affect capacity.
- Maintain appropriate governance for assigned models, including assumption review, data validation, refresh checks, documentation, and change control.
- Independently present capacity outputs, model changes, assumption drivers, and scenario results to functional area management, Supply Chain, and CI partners.
- Support ongoing model improvement, including improved input accuracy, simpler table structures, more automated source-system feeds, faster scenario analysis, and more granular capacity views.
- Contribute capacity-planning expertise to improvement identification, kaizen events, and problem-solving activity where capacity, labour, equipment, or bottleneck analysis is relevant.
- Contribute to team methods for model governance, operating assumptions, data structure, and capacity-planning standards.
- Complete any other tasks or projects assigned by the Continuous Improvement and Industrial Engineering Lead.
- Any other duties as assigned.
What you need to apply:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering, capacity planning, manufacturing, supply chain, operations planning, business analytics, or a related operational environment.
- Strong Excel capability, including structured tables, formulas, maintainable workbook logic, and clear outputs for business review.
- Awareness of Power Query, with the ability to refresh and work with existing query-enabled models.
- Experience with labour loading, labour utilisation, equipment loading, capacity assumptions, or similar operational planning analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to solve open-ended problems, investigate model or performance changes, and convert analysis into practical recommendations.
- Experience working with functional stakeholders and independently presenting analysis, assumptions, and outputs.
- Preferred Qualifications and Experience Working knowledge of Power Query, including editing queries and combining or cleaning structured source data.
- Experience with planning and ERP systems such as SAP, RapidResponse, or similar systems.
- Experience maintaining capacity models, resource models, scenario tools, or assumption-driven planning models.
- Experience improving model automation, source-system feeds, table schemas, data validation, or model documentation.
- Exposure to bottleneck analysis, sensitivity analysis, queueing, simulation, Factory Physics, Theory of Constraints or flow analysis.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or equivalent practical continuous-improvement experience.
