We are seeking applications from health & safety professionals for our client’s cosmetics manufacturing business in Cork.

What you will be doing:
You will support the company to achieve Environmental and Health & Safety (EHS) Excellence through the set-up and maintenance of technical and organisational measures. As the EHS leader you will communicate on EHS topics for both manufacturing sites (Cork & Mayo), ensures a harmonised approach on EHS topics is achieved across both sites.
The key areas of responsibility for this position are:
Work with Company Leaders, Department Managers and Staff to build a practical, proactive, and engaged approach to managing EHS subjects.
Work with and advise on all Safety Systems for Managers, Supervisors and Employees and continually focus on the improvement of existing systems with the introduction of ideas/systems which help us achieve our goals.
Business lead for EHS Topics with particular focus on handling of Chemical Raw Materials and practical compliance with the ATEX directive amongst others
Responsibility for the identification of Safety and Health training requirements - and ensuring that all employees receive refresher training as required.
Develop Safety Induction training programmes and deliver to new employees.
Manage the implementation of a Company Crisis Management Plan - addressing the Environmental and Safety Management aspects.
Insurance Audit Reports: Be the co-ordinator for the implementation of actions based on recommendations made by our Insurers.
To be the Environmental Authority within the company, keeping up to date with constantly changing legislative constraints at local, national, international and group level.
To be the Company representative for Group and Local/National authorities’ meetings or communications. This will include auditing bodies, local government bodies, national agencies, group committees and local Community groups.
Minimising and elimination, where possible, of Env. impacts by monitoring and assessing developments in Material, process and packaging.
Evaluation of new chemicals / Products / Process prior to introduction on site.
Ensuring adequate Documentation of records - internal and external sources.
What you need to apply:
A Bachelor Degree (Level 8) or greater qualification in: Health and Safety, Science or Chemistry or related subject that will give you a good basis for this position.
You will use your excellent communication skills and ability to influence to speak to all levels in the business and to interpret and communicate EHS requirements into practical and actionable objectives and targets.
Your calm approach and ability to work comfortably with the Regulatory Authorities externally and Management internally to ensure compliance with all laid down standards.
If you have a good working knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements and responsibility for ensuring adherence to said requirements this will be of great benefit to the company and manufacturing sites.
Ideally if you have relevant experience in a Manufacturing Operations especially in the management of EHS Systems this will give a brilliant background for this role.
