2957 - API Engineering Technician



We are recruiting an API Engineering Technician to join our client’s site in Sligo.

The primary function of the API Engineering Technician is to provide a Manufacturing Engineering service to the plant to maximise the availability of Manufacturing Equipment.

This person will ensure continual compliance with the policies relating to Personnel, Quality, Engineering, Safety and Finance.

This person will also ensure the performance of day-to-day preventative and demand maintenance activity to maintain manufacturing and utility equipment and liaise with Production to ensure equipment performance is maximized.

What you will be doing:



  • Establish with the engineering team leader the department goals, schedules and timetables for activities.


  • Stay abreast of developments in technology relevant to the processes being carried out on site.


  • Maintenance of manufacturing equipment.


  • Ensure compliance with calibration requirements in conjunction with quality calibration coordinator.


  • Completion of PM on manufacturing equipment.


  • Completion of instrument calibration as per schedule.


  • Identification and implementation of manufacturing equipment related CIP’s.


  • Ensure safety standards are met and safe working practices adhered to.


  • Implementation of equipment/process upgrade in an environment of continuous improvement.


  • Support the Production Team in ensuring that manufacturing equipment is maintained to meet the output and yield requirements.


  • Adhering to all relevant policies relating to Quality & Safety.


  • Supervise external contractors.


  • Required to undertake specific investigations, and equipment monitoring, with the view to improve manufacturing performance e.g. reducing plant maximizing Plant output and yield.


  • Maintain records and documentation on relevant engineering procedures and preventative/demand maintenance.


  • Liaise with Internal/External engineering personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining trouble shooting and installing/commissioning equipment to facilitate the implementation of equipment projects.


  • And any other duties as assigned.




What you need to apply:



  • Relevant Electrical, Mechanical trade exams or academic engineering qualification to Ordinary degree level at a minimum. 


  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant industry at an equivalent position. Automation experience is an advantage.


  • Detailed functional knowledge required of wide range of manufacturing equipment is required. Example: Glass Lined and Hastelloy Reactors, Thermal Oxidizer, Filter Dryers, Vacuum Pumps. Universal Milling Machine, Isolators, Purified water systems, Air Handling Units and Utilities.


  • Strong IT knowledge is required.
