- Team Horizon is seeking an Automation Lead for a client based in Sligo. The Automation Team Leader will be responsible for Automation systems and procedures within the client’s site. This person will provide automation support and automation solutions to manufacturing and support operations at the site.
Additionally, they will be required to work with a variety of functions across the site, including Validation and IT, Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Site Services, Project Engineering and QA to ensure that all manufacturing and control systems are fit for purpose and meet the global and local compliance, including Quality and IT global policies, and end user requirements.

What you will be doing:
Manage, lead and motivate a multi-skilled Automation Team in an empowered team-based environment, ensuring full engagement of team members.
In close collaboration with the BTS, Automation and OpEx Manager develop and maintain the site automation strategy including its key site metrics and action plans.
Support and lead initiatives from the Site Strategy and the Digital Transformation strategy.
Develop and maintain site automation systems and procedures to maximize production, minimize cost and meet quality for the site.
Develop process automation software modules that fit the site process / batch manufacturing and minimize validation. Ensure automation plant support service is structured and operated to ensure smooth plant operations.
Closely manage the interface with Manufacturing / Technical Operations including automation effect on plant / process performance, change control handoffs and project planning.
Develop and maintain a “road map” for system development ensuring integration with plant / process innovations. Develop and maintain SOPs for operation, maintenance, security, back-ups and disaster recovery to cover all systems listed in site inventory.
Ensure that the team is up to date with relevant automation technologies, and that advantageous technological initiatives which are capable of either system
Performance improvements and / or process / plant innovation are included in the capital planning process (innovation planning).
Develop and maintain relevant site standards (system, software and wiring) in line with local and corporate requirements.
Generate and deliver training materials for Users of Automation systems.
Co-ordinate the activities of software and automation engineers, providing prioritization on projects/tasks and production support.
Approve all automation related change controls.
Work with team to develop optimum solutions to process automation issues.
Manage automation vendors and contractors including system support contracts and external access arrangements.
Consolidate long term plans for control system maintenance and improvements.
Manage validations and approve associated documentation and specifications.
Lead team operational excellence activities to continuously improve our processes and eliminate waste.
Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.
Resolves project/system issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate.
Responsible for systems compliance with quality related SOP’s.
Ensure successfully review, amendment and implementation of changes to SOP’s.
Need to front audits by HPRA/FDA or customers on control systems.
What you need to apply:
An excellent knowledge of manufacturing and control systems is required for this role.
Degree: Relevant Mechatronics / Engineering discipline required.
2 years plus in management / leadership role of technical department such as IT or Automation.
3-5 years plus experience working in Automation environment preferably with direct manufacturing exposure.
3-5 years plus of Detailed knowledge of cGMP and regulatory requirements relating to the pharmaceutical industry.
3 years plus of Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting the predefined quality requirements.
An excellent knowledge of control systems methodology is required for this role.
Strong leadership and people development skills.
Strong communication skills required to deliver on cross site goals and objectives.
