- Team Horizon is seeking a EHS Engineer for our client who are a global leader in the biopharmaceutical industry. As the new EHS Engineer, you will create a culture of strong safety engagement among employees and utilise the operational excellence framework to drive EHS improvements, compliance with EHS requirements, and achieving EHS KPIs. Our client has a diverse team at the site that you will work with to achieve safety and environmental goals/objectives in line with the overall site goals and objectives.

What you will be doing:
Create a strong “Zero Believe It, Achieve It. I Will” incident and injury-free safety culture.
Engage and empower managers and employees to highlight and implement continuous safety and environmental improvements.
Motivate, energise, and influence the BU (Business Unit) management team to implement fresh, leading-edge EHS programs, initiatives, and activities effectively.
Lead the EHS Risk Assessment program in BU and ensure all elements of facility, equipment, tasks, ergonomics, and chemicals are appropriately risk assessed.
Maintain EHS KPIs, ensuring they are continuously up to date. Drive positive action and performance, ensuring appropriate, timely action on declining KPIs.
Attend and support safety, environmental and energy team forums, provide direction for forums to ensure focus on key EHS topics, and influence management and employees to ensure active engagement.
Complete regular audits to ensure the business meets all EHS Regulatory, Environmental Compliance and Corporate requirements and engage relevant team members on GEMBAs.
Liaise with Regulatory agencies (including EPA) as required.
Support accident/incident investigation to ensure appropriate root cause analysis completed and CAPAs implemented.
Support a Safety interventions/EHS Observations programs to ensure they are effectively recorded and managed.
Support the Supervisors/Managers where breaches of EHS policy are encountered.
Coordinate EHS promotional activities to create a culture of engagement.
Work with the EHS Team to ensure best-in-class standards across the Business Units and prevent silos.
Support and/or lead EHS programs on; Environmental Sampling and Monitoring, Water Management, Spill Prevention, FGas compliance, Environmental Sustainability, EHS Promotion; Behavioural Safety and EHS Training.
Complete additional duties as assigned to you by the Associate Director EHS.
Any other duties as assigned.
What you need to apply:
Degree qualification in environmental health & safety or science/engineering with minimum diploma qualification in environmental, health & safety.
Minimum 3-5 years of EHS experience in a pharmaceutical or medical device environment essential Strong Environmental background is advantageous.
Experience in the implementation and management of IS0 14001 and 45001 certified systems.
Experience in influencing others, including upwards, to drive safety and environmental improvements.
Experience in engaging employees to improve the safety culture continuously.
Demonstrated knowledge of Irish environmental, health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communication, organisation and decision-making skills. Good time management.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining close attention to detail.
